Reel People Project

#REELPEOPLE #23 - Nancy Lucich & Maryanne - Thalassaemia Society of NSW

Recently, I was invited to attend an event in Sydney, Australia to raise awareness for rare diseases. I met some wonderful people including Nancy and Maryanne from the Thalassaemia Society of New South Wales (NSW)

What's Thalassaemia? Nancy explains it in the video.

If you're in Sydney on 6th May 2011, you can support International Thalassaemia Day Event at VIVO Cafe

You can also find out more about the Thalassaemia Society of NSW on their website.

#REELPEOPLE #22 - Con Vithoulkas - April 2011

I was introduced to Con Vithoulkas through his vivacious sister, Angela at the Vivo Cafe in Sydney. He goes about the daily business of running the cafe in partnership with Angela but is usually in the background of the action on the floor. When you get to speak to him, he's a great character and if you can get him on a break, always delivers a great conversation.

Con manages the day to day operations of Vivo Cafe.  Although Con isn't on Facebook or Twitter (yet), you can find out more about him through Angela's tribute blog post, My Small Business Brother.

#REELPEOPLE #20 - Craig Wilson @MediaHunter - June 2010

I met Craig Wilson through his informative MediaHunter blog which is in the Top 50 Australian Marketing Blogs. He kindly reviewed my Connection Generation book around this time last year for his blog. I met him for real at a Northside Coffee Morning (NSCM) where I took this RealTweeple video.

Craig is managing director of Sticky ADS, a digital agency based in Newcastle, Australia. He disseminates information about the international media landscape with a Newcastle area perspective, an area commonly known as the "Hunter" region (hence the link to his brand "Media Hunter").  His business encompasses his digital agency Sticky, an Inbound Marketing group called Get Sticky and a website analytics and SEO service known as NLYZR

Craig is one of the nice guys in the marketing and media space in Australia. He's also an accomplished sailor and cyclist who has lived in Finland, Washington and Colorado and, is a contributor to the collaborative series of world-wide marketing The Age of Conversation books.

#REELPEOPLE #19 - Annalisa Holmes @Transcribe - May 2010

I met Annalisa Holmes through her tweets as @Transcribe on Twitter. I met her for real when she approached me to sign her purchased copy of my Connection Generation book at the Flying Solo Live! event in September 2009. She's a working Mum who runs a successful Transcription business from Central Coast in the north of Sydney, Australia.

Annalisa is an ultra supportive person both on and off line. On Twitter and Facebook, she shares valuable information through her posts and retweets, while balancing this with an infectious conversation style that keeps you engaged. Despite the distance of traveling from her home to Sydney, she is regular attendee at events such as the A List Entrepreneurs event and was an active contributor at the #Media140 #Foodies event this month. She's also been profiled in the Australian Businesswomen's Network as part of their Mentornet program.

Like she says in her RealTweeple video, her passion really is "Loving Life and Laughing". With that kind of attitude, it's no wonder she delights her clients regularly and is a great friend to many.

On the occasion of Mother's Day 2010, I'd like to introduce and pay tribute to my friend, Annalisa Holmes.

#REELPEOPLE #18 - Craig West - April 2010

I met Craig West in late 2009 while doing consulting work for a Financial Planning client. He specialises in business structuring and succession planning and has had extensive experience in working with clients in order to improve their financial performance. #REELPEOPLE #17 - Jacqui Bridson @JacquiBridson

I met Jacqui Bridson via an email from my friend Jen Harwood in August 2009. Jen and I had been discussing effective speaker management organisations in Australia and she suggested that I consider Jacqui's Renegade Management business. After a few coffee meetings in Melbourne and phone calls, I recently signed up with them. From the outset, I was very impressed with Jacqui's straight talk, her values and her no nonsense approach to managing good speakers.

Jacqui has had more than 15 years experience in the conference/events industry and 6 years with a large bureau. She's brought both her expertise in running events and vast experience in speaker management to culminate in an exciting speaker management business with a difference.

#REELPEOPLE #16 - Kaz Muddell

I first met Karen (Kaz) Muddell when I worked for IBM Australia/New Zealand in Software Marketing. Due to her tenacious persistence, laser focus and attention to detail, Kaz went from a personal assistant role to over the years, rising to the ranks of Marketing Operations Executive, IBM Australia/New Zealand. Her drive and enthusiasm led her to realise that her real passion was helping people to feel good about themselves. She left IBM and started her own fitness solutions business, Mind Body Motion in 2006. Having spent over 13 years in a corporate environment, specialising in team management and operations, she combines her people management and business skills to motivate her clients to overcome any obstacles to improving their health, fitness and quality of life.

Kaz has personally assisted many clients to achieve their goals, whether it's to lose weight, lower their blood pressure, ward off a risk of Diabetes Type II, or to generally increase their fitness levels. She is completely passionate about exercise and enjoys helping clients to see exercise as a regular part of their lifestyle rather than a chore.

I met Nick Bishara when I was Director of Marketing, IBM Australia / New Zealand in the early 2000's. Nick was working for an IBM Business Partner at the time. His experience has been gained in firms providing enterprise application software, integration services, hardware and technical services and application development. REEL PEOPLE #14 - Robyn Henderson - March 2010

I met Robyn Henderson briefly at a National Speakers Association of Australia (NSAA) meeting last year where I was a panelist, speaking about online networking. Her reputation preceded her as one of Australia's best speakers and a global networking specialist. Last week, I had the distinct honor of sharing the stage at a Women's Networking event in Sydney with a lady I consider a legend. At the event, she captivated the audience with her fantastic tips on effective networking. During her speech, she surprised me by mentioning that after listening to me speak at the NSAA, I had motivated her to start a blog. I felt honored to be recognised so publicly by I person I respect and admire.

Robyn's career includes over 20 years as a professional speaker, 10 years in sales and telemarketing management and 13 years in hospitality. She successfully ran women’s networks for 6 years and was listed in the Businesswomen’s Hall of Fame (1997). She has authored and contributed to over 25 books (including 10 on networking and business building and 3 on self-esteem and confidence building). Robyn has spoken in 12 countries and has never advertised - all of her work comes from networking, referrals and her website, www.networkingtowin.com.au

Robyn was presented with the Honorary Speaker award from the NSAA in November 1997 for her contribution to the speaking industry and is a CSP – Certified Speaking Professional with NSAA. This accreditation is shared by only 17 women in Australia and 110 women globally.
